This website is dedicated to the kick-start of an idea. An idea that is, at this moment, only a glimmer of possibility at the beginning of a long road of research. The poll is part of a feasibility study to see if there is any demand or interest in a center for people seeking spiritual peace or teachers seeking a place to hold unique workshops.
The retreat will consist, initially, of a community living center which would include a large industrial kitchen for public use. The center will not provide food or a chef. The center will not run regular classes. Group leaders will set their own schedules for classes or activities. Attendees are to be self-sufficient and the center a place to gather.
The community building will also include a dining area, large community room for activities or classes, dormitory style sleeping area, and shared bathroom facilities. Buildings will be designed using green concepts and sustainable living. Solar/wind/geothermal energy will be used as is appropriate and renewable building materials will be utilized in construction.
The grounds will include hiking trails, various meditation spaces and gardens to find peace with self and nature. Individuals, families and groups/organizations seeking spiritual rejuvenation and a refuge from modern living will be welcome.
Further construction plans include individual and family cabins. Some cabins will include kitchens/bathrooms while others will be simple sleeping areas. A bath house based on Japanese onsens or public bath houses will be open to all attendees.
In the final construction phase, halls dedicated to different arts will be built to house organizations wishing to take their classes into nature. Each hall will have features necessary to the specific art being taught. The visual arts hall will have appropriate lighting, work space and storage for paints, clay, and other supplies. Physical arts such as dance, yoga, and tai chi (taiji) will have bamboo sprung floors and other pertinent considerations. While the music hall will be acoustically designed with both choral and instrumental groups kept in mind.
This is the dream. As of this moment, it is only a dream. Before any further steps can or should be taken it is vital to know if there is sufficient demand for a center like this to exist. This is an enormous undertaking which will need a significant amount of funding. If there is enough response to the poll on the home page, a Kick-start account will be opened for people willing to contribute to the idea.
